Statewide Mechanical
Review Summary
- Positive: Kurt is highly praised for excellent customer service and technical skills, quickly diagnosing and resolving issues (hot water heater, boiler). Other customers have experienced significant savings and energy efficiency improvements (boiler replacement, gas bill reduction). Statewide Mechanical is considered reliable, responsive, and provides good value.
- Mixed: One customer had a negative experience with an annual service, leading to ongoing issues and being charged for a fix. Another customer had to sue Statewide Mechanical for breach of warranty after inadequate heating system installations, despite the initial installation being good.
- Negative: One review details a lawsuit against Statewide Mechanical for failing to provide adequate heat after installing new heating systems and not honoring the warranty.
- Other: There is a rebuttal to the negative review, stating the lawsuit was related to a previous owner's installation and the new owner's lack of sufficient baseboard piping.

Kurt has demonstrated excellent customer service and technical capabilities. Three other plumbing companies were not able to figure out the issues with the hot water heater at my property. However, Kurt was able to diagnose the problem under 30 minutes and on the first visit! I was especially impressed with Kurt's willingness to listen to my frustrations as I was trying to resolve the water heater issues despite his busy schedule. Thank you Statewide and Kurt.

Kurt responded to the boiler shutting down at my Mother's house. I requested a second estimate as the first company to look at it said it would need to be replaced for 14,500.00. Kurt diagnosed it as a bad control board and saved my Mother 14,000 dollars. Thank You Phil

I have been working with statewide for 7 plus years. They cut our houses gas bill by 45% with their embassy boiler. Also, I read a review on this page about a lawsuit against statewide. Since Statewide cant post a rebuttle to the bad review below I will. Statewide was not contracted by the reviewer posted that slammed statewide and suid Statewide. Statewide was contracted to replace boilers by the previous owner, not this angies list reviewer. The new owner sued statewide and lost because he didnt own the house at the time of the installation and was buying the building after the fact. Also, the house didnt have very much baseboard copper piping so the house was cold because the baseboard was too small. Anyone who knows heating knows a boiler needs enough pipe to radiate heat. The review below is slander and cost a lot of good business to a great company. I called Statewide today, in five minutes he told me to press reset and heat turned on. It was a sensor and he fixed out w/no OT.

Statewide provided a great installation of a new boiler at a great price at my home 2 years ago. The boiler has worked flawlessly until this week. I called Kurt and he was right there to fix it and get the heat on again! I will always call Statewide Mechanical for our plumbing and heating needs!

Statewide Mechanical and their team is an outstanding business to work with; their rates are comparable and the hours charges are always reasonable. They replaced my furnace and hot water heater with an on-demand system about 10 years ago. My heating bill dropped by about 25%. This year they replaced my garage heater and have been very responsive to maintenance issues of my on-demand heating system (parts wear out or fail). While heating issues are usually unexpected, frustrating, and costly, I always appreciate the honest answers, the options provided, and the professionalism of the Statewide Mechanical team. When it is cold outside or not, when my system makes a weird noise, like today, they are ready, willing, and go the extra mile (or more) to solve the problem.

I have to give them slight credit the boiler install was great. However, the annual service was terrible. I have a combi boiler so it heats the house and hot water in the same unit. I noticed my boiler started to slow down and not heat the water as fast. I called them in over the holidays in November they came in did the annual service. It didn't really fix the problem at all. It still took forever to heat up. It actually might have made it worst. Over the next months it would spit out shear cold water then come back with hot water. I called them in march because I had been traveling and very busy. They told me "O yeah we must of did something wrong" we will swing by and fix it. They came by fixed it and it works again perfectly. Heats water in seconds. So the actually fix it this time. However, THEY SENT ME A BILL. When I was under the impression they would fix their mistake. Same price as the first bill.

Despite repeated requests, Statewide Mechanical (SWM) did not honor their warranty after installing heating systems that did not provide adequate heat. We had to sue SWM in small claims court in order to get the money out of them in order to fix the problem they created. Please read more below for a more detailed synopsis. My wife purchased a 4-plex in the summer. SWM installed three new heating systems in three of the four units that fall. The original heating systems provided more than adequate heat to the units. There had been no heating issues during the previous 5 years that the previous owner owned the 4-plex and the original heating systems had been in place for 31 years. However, the new heating systems installed by SMW failed to provide adequate heat after installation. After SWM installed the three new heating systems, all of the tenants that lived in these three units started to call us saying their units were cold (the tenant in the fourth unit that did not get a new heating system had adequate heat). So we contacted SWM to investigate why the units were not being heated adequately. SWM sent a technician and determined that more baseboard was needed in each unit and provided us with a bid to pay more money to SWM to install more baseboard in all three units instead of honoring their warranty on the new heating systems and fixing the problem. Basically, SWM was saying it was not their fault that there was a heating problem, even though the same baseboard was enough for the previous heating systems. We sent letters back and forth between SWM for months to try and get them to honor their warranty and fix the issue they created. In the meantime, we had no choice but to buy space heaters for our tenants and reduce their rents in order to not lose them. After 9 months of getting nowhere with SWM, we sued them in small claims court for breach of the warranty. We won our case against SWM and were awarded money to cover some of our damages, including court costs and attorney’s fees. I am sharing our unfortunate experience with SWM, so that you hopefully will not have a similar experience.

These guys are awesome. I've been using them for years to do maintenance my Embassy tankless water heater. Both of my neighbors use them as well. Very knowledgeable and they were willing to show me how to improve my DIY skills.
