WARNING!! MAUERHAN EQUALS 'MECHANICS LIEN'!! We questioned the bill and they got angry. The labor part was NOT calculated honestly. Now they are bullying my family and threatening us as well. Simply put: This may be standard practice for this company, but we refuse to pay an inflated bill. What happened: This company installed a homeowner-supplied brand-new HOT WATER HEATER. The appliance works as it should. Problem is with their charges. Two men showed up at 9:30AM, moved the unit from the foyer to the basement, and installed it. They drove away at 11:30AM. Now they're asking to be paid for more time than the job actually took. They're asking for more money than they spent on what I already saw as inefficient activity. The attitude was 'How can we stretch out the task?' When they were ~80% through the job the LeadGuy stated, 'One more hour and we will be done!' To that I sneered, 'Just finish up and leave... Don't tell me it will take you another hour!' Evidently, he immediately registered my unfriendly attitude, sped up, got it all done in under thirty minutes from that point forward. Then he presented a bill for $1550.00 for parts & labor. I said, 'NO WAY!' Stating it makes no sense. I told him I'm calling the office. He said, 'Whatever. That's above my paygrade' and drove off. It was 11:30 AM. I immediately called the office and complained. With zero discussion the office changed the bill to $1408.73. As stated, the labor part has NOT been calculated honestly. Now they are bullying my family and threatening us as well. Simply put: This may be standard practice for this company, but we refuse to pay an inflated bill. Two men worked for two hours and they drove away. $280.00 per hour, two hours to do the job. They are now seeking 'two-man-hours' in addition to the two hours they actually spent on the job. Perhaps their business is slow therefore they're trying to squeeze money out of their customers. I do not know what they are thinking nor do I know of their motivations. 'Standard practice' for this company? We don't know. We refuse to pay an inflated bill.

The gas company changed something on our meter, discovered a gas leak and shut our gas off. Mauerhan Plumbing was booked until Monday (this was Thurs afternoon). We had no heat and no hot water. We were put on hold and when they returned, they had one person that could come out on Friday. We were extremely pleased with the service received. The technician was very respectful of our house, our comfort (hot water and warm house), and our pocketbook. Knowing he needed help with the house heater (located in a cramped hard to reach area), he fixed all our minor leaks and capped off the house heater, saving it for after the weekend to repair. The gas company came out that same day and turned our gas on. We had hot water for showers, our cook stove worked and we wore sweatshirts until the heater was fixed. All in all it was a good experience. Mauerhan staff was friendly, very professional, and considerate of us, our property and our pocketbook. We will recommend and use Mauerhan in the future.

I was charged $450 for 30 minutes of work. When I asked the dispatcher how much a clogged toilet would be, I was told by the receptionist she didn’t have the prices in front of her, but it was $160 to come over which would be waived after the job. None of that happened. The plumber had a sheet with the prices that clearly listed. The $450 price was the lowest level he said they could charge why was I not told that before they came out? Very dishonest. I can’t recommend.
