I was staying in my parent's apartment and had a technician from Malcolm Plumbing come in to repair the garbage disposal. He was unprofessional from the start, asking me what my parents did for work and commenting on how nice the apartment is. His "repair" consisted of manually turning the garbage disposal and a suggestion to get it replaced. The garbage disposal worked for about a week before it stopped working again. On top of that, he tacked on an extra hour of labor that he did not work. After seeing the invoice, I contacted Malcolm Plumbing with a timestamp of when he received the key fob from the concierge and when he gave it back as proof that he was there for an hour -- not the two that he submitted on the invoice. I was told that they would speak with the technician and get back to me, which they failed to do. I ended up calling them a handful of times over the span of two weeks until they informed me, in an extremely dismissive and aggressive tone, that I was in the wrong since they add on the time it takes for the technician to drive to the apartment complex (a 15 minute drive) and the time it takes for them to get the tools out of the car and into the apartment (he came in with a roller backpack of tools...shouldn't take 45 additional minutes to do that). The cost for this man to manually spin the garbage disposal for it to stop working days later was $510. Ridiculous. As a woman in her early 20s I 100% believe that he took advantage of my lack of knowledge on plumbing and maintenance and believed that I would not speak up. You can look at their reviews on Yelp where many other people have had experiences being overcharged. Before booking services from them, I encourage you to find somewhere where they can give you a quote that makes sense.

I was able to get same morning service for a sink plumbing issue with new garbage disposal installation, and haul away of the old one. Bob was punctual, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Top quality service! I would definitely use this company again for any future repair needs.

Malcom Plumbing has always come through when needed. They've helped me both at home and at my work. I love that they let you know when the plumber is coming, along with a photo. They've always been on time, courteous and they wear booties and bring a mat to keep your place clean. They are happy to explain what the issue is about. 5 stars

I have worked with Malcolm Plumbing for over 20 years; The company has plumbed my house since the 1950s. I had a disappointing experience on my last call. Very disappointing: It was good friday and I had a runt of the mill clogged drain. I was told it was a holiday (its not a national holiday, and as a catholic, it was not one for me). I was told it would be a 3 hr min. service call and I would be charged double time owing to the holiday. I searched for another solution, but felt that Malcolm always has worked on my house so I called them and Max came at about 5 45 on Good Friday. Three problems, as quoted I was charged over $1350.00 for just one hour of work, maybe 1:10. Second, I called back and asked for a discount and I was told that they would reduce the bill by 120.00 Very disappointing, after literally 10s of thousands of work with this company. Finally I was told that it was a 2 1/2 hr call. I know and I timed it, Max was there just over an hour...so even with driving time (and I don't get paid to drive to work, do you?), 2 1/2 hrs was a stretch....Finally the company reduced the bill to 750, refunding about 1/3 of the call, which was moderately satisfying....In the end, my trust in the company has been really shaken and I remain very disappointed.

I called Malcolm Plumbing as I wanted a gas pipe with a shut off and on valve, in a 100+ year old fireplace that is no longer safe to use, removed. I realized that I had 2 other fireplaces in the building with the same concern. Max shut off the gas, removed and capped all 3 valves and then thought to go into the optometry business on the ground floor and relight the pilot on the water heater for the whole building. Max was thoughtful about safety, very timely, efficient and I highly recommend him and Malcolm Plumbing.

This was the third water heater I've purchased and installed from Malcolm Plumbing since 1995. The man who did the inspection and estimate found water was coming from the roof exhaust. He went up on the roof to inspect the cap. He then discovered the angle of the exhaust pipe coming from the heater was causing the water problem. When the crew came the next morning to do the installation they were exceptionally attentive to details. One thing they did was bring my existing earthquake restraint up to current code by replacing the metal straps and adding two horizontal boards to prevent the heater from moving in that direction. The model of Rheem heater they installed was a "Classic Series--Professional" which comes with many quality features and a 6 year guarantee. Although the final price was a bit more that I expected, it was well worth it given the extra work they did and the overall quality of their work. All three men showed up in masks and were friendly, well informed and professional. After installation, there was a minor technical problem in getting my copy of the signed invoice but it was resolved by a phone call.

Emailed me in advance of arrival, showed up on time, came prepared with the correct parts based on my verbal description of the problem, fixed the issue with my dishwasher, tested the work, cleaned everything up, and left. Couldn't be more satisfied. Extremely professional, quick and painless. Highly recommend these guys.
