DO NOT USE- PRICE GOUGERS I called and set up an appointment, stating I would like my kitchen sink and faucet switched (I provided the sink and faucet). I asked for a quote and they said they do not do quotes they just charge $175 an hour. I asked how many hours the job would and they said no more than 2. I booked an 8:30am appointment, the first of the day. My appointment came and they were 10 minutes late, not a big deal. They were at my home with my girlfriend as I work at the military base and this is a simple project. After 10 minutes at my home, they said they needed parts and left to get parts. They were gone over 40 minutes to get parts to a project in which I clearly explained the day before when I set up the appointment. Also, I live a quarter mile from Phenix City Plumbing Supply. They then started the work, and in total it took them around 2 hours of work to do this simple project, not counting the trip to the store or them looking at the set up initially. They billed me for 3 hours of labor and $135 in parts, which is a 50% mark up on the actual cost of the parts. I have never been provided a receipt for any parts. They billed me for the time in which it took them to get parts at $175 an hour! Totaling almost $700 on what should be a $300-$400 job. After they left I noticed they messed up the job! They switched the hot and cold lines, so my filtered drinking water is now hot! I called and spoke to TAB, she was one of the RUDEST people I have ever worked with. I asked why them not being prepared for the job and having to go get parts should cost me $175 and I thought they were gouging me on price. Her response was they charge when they dispatch the drivers, which means them driving 15 minutes to your house is billable time and thus cost the consumer $45, and that she should have charged me more as she should have charged me for the time up until they took lunch, which was 20 minutes after the billing process started. I could not believe her rude response, and that consumers should pay $175 an hour for them to drive to your home, or that they were not prepared and I should be charged for that. I asked if there was any way to resolve the matter and she said no, not willing to work with me at all. I can only HOPE this post cost them the extra money that they gouged me. Their QUESTIONABLE ETHICS and downright HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE should scare everyone away from Lovelace. As a consumer I have rights and it saddens me to make this post, but I called and tried to work with Lovelace and Tab wanted no part of any of that conversation. I will be spreading the word to AVOID LOVELACE PLUMBING, and filing a complaint with the BBB. THIS BUSINESS WILL PRICE GOUGE YOU AND USE QUESIONABLE ETHICS AS WELL AS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Update- The BBB sided with me, although they can not make Lovelace Plumbing make the situation right. This complaint did cost Lovelace their A+ rating with the BBB. At no point did Lovelace attempt to try to settle even with the BBB trying to come to a resolution.
