Update - Luckily I own an excavator and decided to dig up the line from the tank to the laterals and found that line had a large dip that acted as a P-trap (again, only a 2 year old system which they installed) which then froze with the cold weather. Good thing I didn't listen to them to just "wait until it thaws" because this would have been a yearly issue and likely wouldn't have unthawed for 1-2 months. I re-pitched the line and it is working as expected now. No help from Bob's though unfortunately. Called them to diagnose/ fix a frozen septic pipe after the recent cold spell we had. Line was frozen from the tank to the distribution box. They had installed the system 2 years prior, so I was hoping they would be able to figure why this was happening since the system is so new and they put it in. Due to the frozen line, the tank had filled up, tripping the alarm (which I knew prior to calling). So I called and told the situation and asked if I should have it jetted or have them come look, they said they would take a look. They got a truck out quick and was told the tank was filled because of a frozen line (which again, I knew before calling) and the solution was to pump the tank and wait for the line to thaw out the following week (keep in mind this is still January in Iowa). I asked why did this freeze in the first place and what happens if it doesn't self thaw in the next week and I was told I would get a call from the boss as he wasn't sure. I did approve pumping, assuming the boss would call with a solution for the frozen pipe. No call back, so I had to call the office later in the day and the only answer I got was - if it doesn't thaw in a week, I should call another company to jet it and this only happened because it was so cold out (again this is Iowa where it does get very cold). The tech never mentioned jetting was an option and I would not have had him pump the tank if that would have solved this. If the line had been jetted, the pump would have lowered the tank level and pumping wouldn't have been needed. This is a 2 year old system, so at this point I am assuming either they didn't install the discharge line deep enough or the line has a dip, holding water, which froze. So $900 later, all I got was a frozen pipe plus a few extra days before the alarm goes off again. If you want a company who cares about finding the root cause of a problem, do not call them. I'm assuming they either want to focus on installations and pumping tanks and not supporting there systems and installations. I was not expecting them to fix it for free, but at least a reason/ solution on why this has happened, so it does not happen, every winter, for next 20 years.

DO NOT go thorugh Bob's septic. When we bought our home the previous owner had Bob's come out to clean and inspect the tank. Said everything looked great and we were good to go. Fast forward 2+ years and we are now selling this same home. We go through Bob's, since they were the ones who came out two years ago. Now they say our single 1000 gallon tank is corroded with roots impacting the lines and we have to replace the tank. We thought that seemed odd for that to occur in only 2 years. We get the paper work from 2+ years ago. It says that they cleaned and inspected 2 tanks, one 1500 gallon and one 500 gallon tank. The map they drew was also incorrect as it depicted these two tanks in the incorrect place in our yard. Basically, they falsified the report, and the DNR inspector signed off on it. Which means we never should have been able to purchase the home if our tank had not been inspected, and it possibly should have been replaced before we bought the home. Two guys showed up, without calling us or knocking on our door, and tresspassed to go back and inspect our tank without our knowledge or permission to cover up their mistake. Now they deny all responsiblity that they did anything wrong and will not fix their mistake. But you better believe they still tried to quote us $10,000 to replace the tank.

I found Bob’s Septic by searching septic contractor service in DM metro. They charges $1300 to pump a 350 gallon tank in July 2022. In January 2024, we had a misdiagnosed full septic tank from Roto Rooter. We were told the septic system was plugged such that the tank was over full and back draining into the house. I called Bob’s and asked them to come take a look and pump the tank if it is indeed overflowing and back draining into the house. I was at work when Bob’s technician arrived, they accessed the manhole and immediately started pumping even though it was not above the normal level. They charged $999 to pump the 350 gallon tank that did not need pumped. I had to have a plumber back out the same day as the tank was pumped to snake out the line from house to septic tank which cost an additional $400. Just today I shopped around for prices to pump a 350 gallon septic tank and found the total cost should be about $500 on the high end. DO NOT USE BOB’S Septic unless you money is not a factor. Very disappointed :(

Had a difficult situation d/t city regulations, Jason at Bob’s worked with the city planners and engineers to figure out 3 options they would allow. After we picked one, he took care of all the permit/inspections so we wouldn’t have to worry about that. Work was completed well, and they fixed a landscaping issue left by a previous contractor since they had the equipment there to do it. Post installation has been great as well. The services at the fair are greatly appreciated. Would not hesitate to recommend.

We called bobs to empty our septic, they were able to send someone out almost immediately after we called. The guy was very nice and fast. He told us we needed a new pump, which he was correct. We were still having other issues so we contacted another company to come out and take a look. They quickly figure out that the septic was not emptied correctly. I called bobs back to explain the situation and they were able to immediately send someone back out to correct the problem! They were extremely professional about the situation and even returned my money, which was totally unexpected! They went above what I expected them too and got everything taken care of as quickly as they possibly could! Which we are super great full for! The guy who messed up personally came back to apologize for his mistake. They are all very nice people and we will use them again in the future if needed!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience using this company. We were in a tough position getting ready to close on the sale of our house only to find the entire septic system needed to be replaced and it needed to happen fast in order to maintain the closing date. The entire team at Bob's Septic Tank bent over backwards to make things happen, they did so with professionalism, compassion and the expertise to get the job done efficiently and maintain a high quality of work. Bravo! This was service done right!

I called Bob's Septic Tank Service when my drain backed up. The gal that answered the phone was upbeat, positive and very helpful. She answered all my questions and explained prices. She had a crew at my house in a few hours! The guys were professional, very knowledgeable and quickly went to work pumping out the tank. But I still had a blockage some where as the drain backed up again. I called back and the crew came back the same day to try and fix the problem. They wanted to make sure I was back up and running the same day. They were careful to not track into the house and cleaned up after their work. Yes I give them 5 stars.
