Mike K. was extremely kind and helpful. He helped identify my problems and explained them so it was easy for me to understand. He put together a few different options for how to proceed but was not pushy at all. There was also no hidden costs or surprises for extra fees, which I know isn’t the case for all companies. He took his time and I could tell he really wanted what’s best for me and not trying to get as much money out of me as possible. I really trust Service Legends and they are lucky to have Mike on their team.

The contract with Service Legends in Des Moines, Iowa was for one year. Fall and Spring checks were performed. Our smoke detectors were 10 years old so I requested a price to replace 8 direct wired alarms. The Legacy smoke alarm was suggested at $300 each installed. I was told the current Kiddie ones, which we had, had problems and were not suggested. We did not request or approve a Wi-Fi model. The written bid just stated 8 smoke detectors for $2,636. At the time there were only 6 in stock so I was informed it might be a while before ours could be installed. After the installer called in the order, the install was scheduled for the next week. The installer arrived with Kiddie detectors and I was told these were better and more expensive but was offered the same price. I think I was taken advantage of. The detectors were installed but then I saw that Home Depot sold these for $70 each so I was charged $2,000 for two hours of work. I called the supervisor but was told he was charged more also. No credit was offered. Please be careful when dealing with Service Legends.

I appreciated that Alex came back to close the deal in person, rather than over the phone. And was friendly to my dog. That's big for me. No work done yet, so I will update once they come back. Comparison shopped, and Service Legends had better financing options, a better price, more comprehensive service (they will he doing a water heater, garbage disposal, and attic insulation), more transparency in their transactions, and a better warranty compared to their competitors. Update: Jason was here to talk about insulation. He told me very honestly that insulation may not be the way to go. While I do need insulation, it would not be the major money saver I had hoped for. Clearly he was much more interested in my happiness than making a sale. With my $22/month package, a furnace tune-up is free. My budget is tight, but I have a comfort expert coming over same day for for a consult, to see if we can fit a complete comfort package into my budget. Water team was here today as well. They were very friendly, especially to my dog. My only complaint is a minor one; it would have been nice to have a heads up that they were going to cut my water off, and how long it would be off for, but I am very pleased overall with my service from SL. I plan to keep my SL monthly service in case I need them again. They have consistently been the best value by a wide margin. Left for work & came back, garbage disposal was not done, which was disappointing. They told my mother (who lives with me) they would be coming back. Would have appreciated a call so I knew what was going on first hand. Sounds like they need to wire the electrical outlet and switch still. Not 100% sure when they plan to come back? Also, updating to 5 stars. If I could, I would give 4.5, due to the minor issues above, but I will allow the 5 star for the fact that they are willing to do what it takes to get there. Nothing is perfect, especially when working on a 100 year-old home.

LOVED his professionalism. I’m a tough critic and being in the field myself and in the mid 60’s. I was not able to maneuver myself into a position where I could fix it myself. But Nick knocked out a repair of a 3” PVC radon coupling in the attic in 1/2 the time it would have taken me. He was absolutely amazing. I will tell everyone to get an estimate from them before anyone else.

Recently installed a new Rheem 50g water heater. The installers were both very cordial and the install looks great. They were very cautious to not make a mess and cleaned everything up once completed. Took time to answer all my questions. Certainly a couple men who are valuable resources for their company.

Excellent service, made sure I was safe since my furnace went out and created a plan so I came back be up and running ASAP. In the meantime provided heaters until my new furnace is installed ASAP. I will recommend to my family and friends and me feeling hopeful and happy. Installation of new furnace was done timely and efficient and left no mess. Your services are appreciated, glad I found you in my time of need during one of coldest days of winter so far. Follow-up was completed within minutes and I am satisfied in my choice to choose Service Legends. Employee was professional, friendly and fast and listened to my concerns.
