When my tankless water heater failed and my home lost heat in this past cold snap, I got a quote from another plumber for $15000 to replace it. When I called Nick for a second opinion, he dropped what he was doing and came over immediately. He explained exactly what had gone wrong with the tank in easy-to-understand language and guaranteed he could replace it for half of that price. He followed though on his guarantee the next day, worked efficiently, and is delightful to talk to. He’s done other work on my house before and is always honest, thoughtful, good at explaining ideas to non-plumbers, and widely knowledgable about quirky Boston plumbing. This is the person you want working on your plumbing, period.

I give 2 stars based on that the plumber is licensed and knowledgable, but overpriced and did not complete job. I called Colantuno Plumbing because I had a gas pipe leaking behind my stove according to our utility company. Within an hour Nick showed up. He diagnosed it correctly as a slow gas leak. He shut the home’s gas off and re-tightened the pipe, which cost me $150. To return again the next day to reignite the hot water heater he charged another $150 for a total of $300. Took him all of 10 minuted for both jobs combined. 5 days the repair after I returned home from vacation to a strong gas odor, so I called up the utility company (National Grid) again to check if the repairs were fixed. They found that the pipe behind the stove was still leaking gas, as Nick had simply tightened the pipe more without adding any doping or putty to insulate the leak from further occurring. The technician from National Grid doped the pipe himself and fixed the leak and reignited our hot water heater again (free), because the home’s gas had to ne shut off to do the repair. Upon reaching out to Nick I showed him physical pictures of the pipe still leaking (air bubbles emerging from the area of leakage) and videos of the utility technician re-doing correctly the job he just charged $300 for in 10 minutes. I requested him to meet me halfway on the charges, at $150. After a day of non-responsiveness he sends my wife a message on her phone saying that he could refund $50, claiming to have done the work correctly even though there is physical photo evidence of it not being done to standards. As I stated he is knowledgable and punctual, but overpriced and incomplete work quality.

I cannot boast more about father and son!!!!! Nick called me less than 10 minutes after I called him for a clogged toilet. Steve came within 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, I need a drain company to clean out my main drain. Steve called the company for me and refused to accept payment for coming out. This is a "mensch," and I will not call any other plumber in the future! Thank you Colantuno & Son Plumbing!

Seriously, very considerate folks. We met with Nick directly and he offered advice/checked the potential problem we were worried about. When it did not make sense to service the units as originally planned or replace any parts, he offered his time at no charge.

Amazing service! I called in crisis mode w a basement full of water and Nick was able to come within hours to replace my hot water tank. Thank you!!!!

These guys are the best. Always go above and beyond and do quality work that they stand behind. Very responsive and good people on top of that. Nick and his dad are the best around.
