Review Summary

Hoover Electric Plumbing Heating Cooling:

  • Positive: Technicians are skilled, hard-working, efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, considerate, and communicate well. They are also good with pets and provide quick service. Some technicians, like Todd, are exceptional and provide thorough service.
  • Negative: Some technicians provide inflated quotes, potentially for work that is not required. Communication and follow-up can be poor. The company may charge a premium price for services, and the quality of some work may be lacking. There have been issues with financing and maintenance program requirements.
  • Overall: Mixed reviews. Some customers have had excellent experiences, while others have been dissatisfied with pricing, quality, and communication.

The skilled professionals of Hoover Plumbing are hard-working, efficient and knowledgeable. Also, they are extremely pleasant, friendly and considerate. Over the past month, they have tackled my home’s issues with care, precision and communication. Most importantly, they are nice to my two cats, who are curious and were getting in the way sometimes! I’m so happy I chose Hoover to save my home!

Communication was great and detailed. We had Kyle come out to quote a repair. He was great explaining (twice to both my husband and I) what needed to be done. He was also patient with my 4-year-old who followed him around like a shadow and was all in his personal space. Having folks in and out of your house for work to be done can be stressful, but Hoover made it simple and were moving forward with not just the leak we had but also having electrical looked at.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. BOOK WITH A SMALLER/LOCAL COMPANY. We had Hoover out on Thursday 3/6 to give a quote for electrical work. We are trying to sell a property need to obtain a CO from the city to sell. Booking and getting someone out with Hoover was easy. Beyond that we had a terrible experience. I informed the tech that we wanted to just do the required work via the inspection report (assuming there were no other safety concerns). His quote reflected a bunch of work that we did not ask to be completed and was not required to be completed. It was crystal clear he did not want to complete the job, I imagine maybe because it wasn't a huge job? Regardless, his quote came back wildly expensive. I said that I would need to talk with my husband because I didn't think all of the work was necessary. He pretty much said the quote is what it is and let him know if we have questions. I asked if we could agree on doing business when could they complete the work and he said maybe the following week - when the booking person told me they come stocked with a truck and complete a lot of jobs same day. Again, it was clear they didn't want the job, but were perfectly fine taking $90 for the 25 mins they spent at the property. We part ways and I receive multiple automated texts asking about my experience and how they can earn my business. On Tuesday 3/11 I responded to one of these texts that we had questions and would like to connect with the technician. They responder said the technician would give my husband a call at the number I provided. No call. On 3/13 my husband calls in (to the main number because of course we couldn't have the techs direct number) asking why we haven't gotten a call back and were told they would request another call back because the tech was out sick. On 3/17 my husband got a call and VM from the tech with no direct number to call back- so again he called the 800 number and asked for a call back. They connected on 3/18 and the conversation basically went - the quote is what it is. For reference - we received 4 quotes (all different work) for $4,200. Notably - $227 to install a wireless smoke and carbon monoxide detector (part $92) that we did not ask for. $1,000 to SWAP out 17 receptacles ($2-5 part) (We only actually NEED to have 6 replaced). The other two large parts ($3,000) of the quotes were not required by the city but the tech "recommended" them. I am out $90 and I am embarrassed that I even contacted this place instead of trying to find a local, smaller shop from the beginning. We had someone out today to complete the city required work for $575 and I will be happily writing them a rave review.

Todd was both professional and exceptional in resolving the leak problem in my basement. He explained everything to me and proceeded to fix the issue. After completing the repair, he checked to make sure all the faucets were generating hot water and they were. This is quite rare in my book. He is amazing. I would highly recommend Hoover Electric Plumbing Heating & Cooling! Thanks to Todd for a job well done.

I recently had Hoover Electric Plumbing replace part of the sewer drain in my basement, and it was the third time I’ve had them work in my house. The first time was a few years ago for the installation of a second water meter, and the second time was to replace a water pipe for the sprinkler control system outside. Every time, the Hoover crews have done a fantastic job. For the sewer drain replacement and cleaning, Kyle and Traverse spent an entire day working and did a wonderful job. They were very professional and efficient, despite the unpleasant smell, and cleaned up the area nicely afterward. Hoover Electric Plumbing is now my go-to company for any issues in my home.

General thoughts, since I think there are a lot of things this company does right, but also some things I think could be improved upon: What I had done: Old Water Heater removed and pipes capped off/re-routed to install a tankless water heater. PROS: 1.) They WILL get the job done and it will be up to code 2.) They will likely get out to you quickly, which is great if you're in a pinch like I was and need something done fast. 3.) Customer Service is very friendly, and relatively easy to get ahold of compared to many large companies. You can tell they very much are looking to engage with you and earn your business. CONS: 1.) You are definitely paying a PREMIUM for their services (they quoted me about $4000 for a standard water heater replacement which is pretty high from everyone I've talked to). Ended up doing a tankless since it was only a few thousand more. 2.) Some of the quality of the services leave something to be desired (see pics of external vent installs for the tankless heater). I had them come back out to fix some of the work they did there where it left a hole in my exterior where bugs/rodents could get in (I could see daylight from inside my basement where the pipes left the house). They came back and patched it, but the patching was pretty sloppy (see pics. These are after I trimmed off most of the excess foam that was left over). I made note of this in a call I had with their customer service, but haven't heard back since. There were also a few leftover drainage tubes from their re-routing in my basement ceiling that were draping down from being cut that I needed to take out myself. 3.) They make you sign up for their maintenance program or it costs even more to do your project. While it's relatively low commitment and does have its benefits to be sure, it also adds to the feeling of the price being exaggerated, since your option is either sign-up or pay more for your project. So overall, I'd probably rank them 3.5 stars since they were quick and got the job done and were friendly (yay!) and everything seems to work and be up to code. However, the quality of the job for the amount paid left just a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. EDIT: Updated to 2 Stars. After checking my finance account, it is set up to where minimum payments alone will NOT sufficiently pay off the loan (and because it's through Wells Fargo, I.e. the worst financing company around, there's no easy way to change this through their UI), which I explicitly asked when we were talking about financing to which the rep assured me I wouldn't have to deal with any of that lump sum on last month nonsense that sometimes happens because their company "paid extra" to ensure that the plan would default to regular, equal payments so that I would have zero balance at the end of the 18 months. While this is certainly workaroundable, it requires me to take extra steps I was assured I would not have to when purchasing from this company. I honestly just can't recommend this company to someone at this point.

Just an incredible experience! Brendan and Ted came out today to evaluate a heated wall to make sure it wasn’t an electrical problem. They gave me advanced notice and the option to track their car so I knew exactly when they’d be there. They went above and beyond during the visit and were respectful of my home. Very impressed, will definitely be calling Hoover again if needed!

Danny from Hoover Plumbing/Heating came out to advise on an issue with our shower. This was our first experience with Hoover. Danny was on time and very professional. He analyzed the situation and gave us good affordable options. I would highly recommend Hoover, and have already referred them to someone who has now had great experiences with their service!
