Review Summary

  • Negative: Multiple issues with new construction home plumbing: no hot water on move-in, sump pump drain improperly installed causing basement flooding, gas leak with unresponsive emergency line, and furnace pilot light issues. Lack of 24/7 emergency response and repeated issues indicate poor workmanship and oversight.
  • Positive: Excellent service for a basement remodel in an older home. Professional, courteous, and communicative staff (Kyle, Brook, Dan, Brandon, John). Fair pricing and transparent billing. Resolved an issue caused by a customer-supplied part without charge.
  • Positive: Quick service, minimizes downtime, clean work, and friendly staff.
  • Positive: Brook quickly diagnosed and fixed a leak; professional and friendly service.
  • Negative: Missed scheduled appointment, leading to cancellation.

Have had numerous problems after buying a new construction townhome. the weekend we moved in, we had no hot water (0 degrees outside). Attempted to call emergency line, no one answered until monday morning after numerous calls. Turns out that the coils were fried due to not enough water in the tank (possibly that an apprentice was unsupervised when electrical was turned back on). The Next spring, after a rainstorm we discovered that our sump pump drain line to exterior was not installed properly, went to the front door stoop, which caused a backup into our basement. A year and half later, we smelled gas near our furnace room, we once again called their emergency line with no one answering once again. Took multiple calls for someone to get back to us. Now, once again today our furnace pilot light is out went we switched our heat on. We understand there are sometimes faulty parts, but there have way too many issues that lead us to believe it has been poor workmanship and oversight by Wenzel. While they have eventually fixed the issues, it has left us frustrated having to call them every few months with another issue. These issues plus the lack of 24/7 emergency call back has been very frustrating for the 1 1/2 we have owned this new construction home. We have had no issues with any other of the contractors that were part of the build.

We used Wenzel plumbing based on a recommendation to do our entire plumbing needs for a 1930's home basement remodel--you can anticipate all the "fun things" that had to be done in a home almost a century old! We actually switched mid-project from a plumber we were using to Wenzel because of issues. So glad we did! Wenzel staff are extremely professional, courteous, and communicative. From Kyle who managed our project to the expert plumbers themselves--Brook, Dan, Brandon, John--they were all amazing, efficient, respectful of our home and late minute requests. In total, Wenzel plumbed/roughed in our basement plumbing (updating all homes pipes to uponor and making a great control panel), redid some runs upstairs, put in a new water heater, connected our showers/bathroom faucet/toilet/fireplace/water heater/furnace and more! Price was fair and very transparent and at no time did I feel like I was being taken advantage of. In fact, Wenzel did about 3-4 hours free of service when they had to come back to fix a shower plumbing fixture issue that was mainly a result of a foreign part being purchased (owner's purchase !). This is a stand up company with a completely competent crew.

They fit me in quickly and limit the down time as much as possible. They do good clean work. Nice folks to work with. I've tried a number of plumbers over the years for my business to varying degrees of success. I've stopped looking now.

Brook came to our door early. Diagnosed the issue quickly, and solved our leak. He professional and friendly. A very good experience.

I called to remind the firm of a scheduled morning appointment. I waited another half hour, and then canceled.
