Shawn W was my technician and he was very efficient and explained everything to me. He was shocked that my water heater of 17 years hadn’t busted open before I made the call to them. He was dispatched the next day after a near closing call to the office. Hands down great service! 1 day for everything.

I called Arlinghaus to provide yearly maintenance of my furnace at my new home. I am a member of their happy home club. I purchased a Furnace and Air Conditioner from them in October of 2024 for my previous home. They do have good customer service at installations and follow up of installs. I am not sure what the HVAC technician did at the 1.5 hour visit. He did not change the air filter, he did not clean the furnace, nor did he provide a summary of what he actually did. Please see picture of furnace below. I observed him walking out of the house twice and heard him talking on the phone a few times. After he finished he wanted to have a serious, sit-down conversation with my wife. This was the first fear tactic used in order to try to convince us to purchase a new furnace. He told me that my furnace was producing more than 2000 ppm of Carbon Monoxide and that I had a failed heat exchanger. Please see picture of the report below. He than proceeded to place a red tag with the 2000 ppm carbon monoxide stating that the equipment was dangerous to use next to my thermostat, yes not the furnace, the thermostat. This was a very similar situation to what they did with my old house. After he left his supervisor called me and told me that the technician thought I wasn't taking him seriously. He also told me the carbon monoxide detectors I had in my home may not be adequate. I have working low level carbon monoxide detectors in a few areas in my home, nothing has been triggered in the past two weeks or within the time the technician has left. I realize now that this company is not in the business of servicing equipment, but they are set up to only sell you new furnaces and use fear tactics to sell you new equipment. I feel like I was scammed into buying a 12k new furnace from this company at my old home, when the equipment was old but operable. Please do your research before calling this company to service your Furnace. I suggest you call an honest company that does not have a goal to sell you a furnace on every visit. I will be contacting the fire department of Milford, Ohio to come to my home and take a CO reading. I have also ordered a commercial grade CO detector for my home. Once I take readings I will update the post. Post update- purchased Klein Tools ET110 CO Meter, Carbon Monoxide Tester and Detector with Exposure Limit Alarm. Correctly calibrated and took readings in every room for 5 minutes. 0 ppm in every room, 3 floors while the furnace was running for 10 minutes and while furnace was off. The only time I got a reading was when I placed it right near the chambers which lead to the flu, inside the furnace reading of 3 ppm. I did not call the fire department to come out, I didn’t want to waste their time. I did however confirm my carbon monoxide detectors are adequate. Moral to the story is the Arlinghaus only has furnace sales in mind, I believe that most of the workforce at arlinghaus is paid on commission. FYI- Arlinghaus is Not a small business! It is owned by Redwood Services, a huge corporation, the original owners only own a minority share in the company.
