It has been a bit over a year since dealing with these so called professionals. They replaced my stack pack and all other plumbing in my bathroom. The workers caused significant damage to my bathroom tile, outside of the area being worked in. They have acknowledged that they did the damage. They have had someone come out multiple times to take a piece of the tile and measured the bathroom. As stated, since May 2023 to present, my bathroom tile still has not been replaced. I am living with an eye sore in my main bathroom. All of my phone calls, the visit to the office on Cedar Street, pleading for them to do the right thing has all been to no avail. I am disabled and on a fixed income, I do not, nor should I have to worry over the cost of tiling my bathroom because the tile they broke was special order over 20 years ago. I would not recommend this company to anyone for anything.

Recently, I had quite the experience with this company. Here's the lowdown: We called them in, thinking it was just for a simple toilet replacement. Little did we know, the sanitary pipe was a mess, and both the shower and sink drains were made of lead, so replacements were in order. The quote they gave us wasn’t cheap, but it seemed fair. Plus, with their promise to have the bathroom ready by Monday's end, we decided to go with them on the spot. Now, to get to the pipe, they needed to cut through walls in both our kitchen and guest bedroom. We got that - sometimes, there’s no easy way around these things. But here's the kicker: After they finished, our place looked like a hurricane’s aftermath. It's evident that tidiness wasn't their priority. They left chunks of wood and drywall on our kitchen cabinets (see pics). Our front porch? Covered in PVC shavings and random splatters of pipe glue. And because of their piping placement, I had to get creative when reattaching the drywall. To top it all off, our guests mentioned that the workers seemed pretty unhappy, saying this was one of their most challenging gigs. My interactions with the workers were alright, not super pleasant, but okay, but it was clear they didn't want to be there, and made it terribly awkward for me and my wife. Also, what was promised to be a day’s work stretched out over three days. They’d start at 9:30 a.m. but leave by 2:30 p.m (the latest). I’m still scratching my head about that one. At any rate, I wish we would have gone with someone else.

These guys came out last minute which was really awesome. With the help of my husband they diagnosed what we think it the problem. They charged us a huge amount (in the moment it seemed fair) under the promise that they would be back the morning to fix the problem and the hole in the wall. They did return and fixed what we thought was the issue. This took about an hour. But here is the kicker. I didn't know the person that was suppose to fix the wall did not show. I was told that after he came down from the repair. I was told wait and see after the next rain fall if the fix worked. They said they would be back to fix the wall at that time. All in all I paid a huge amount of money and I am not really sure if the problem is fixed and there is a hole in my wall. I will not be calling them back. The final punch is that he wrote on my invoice that there was a balance of $300! For their unfinished work they did not complete. I would not recommend these guys.

It’s unfortunate that I am writing a bad review for this company as I had several calls with them that were helpful, but the quality of service is so inconsistent that I can no longer use them for my properties or recommend them. After calling for leak in my basement they told me there was nothing they could do besides install a sump pump which would not prevent the problem, but cost $8,000. I found out later the leak was from the roof and a sump pump was not at all necessary. When the roofers installed a new roof, they recommended that I have a plumber take a look at a drain pipe in the backyard, as that could be some of the issue as well. I called Edward Hughes again, giving them the benefit of the doubt that with this suggestion they could identify the issue, as they had helped me successfully at my previous home. They set a date and a time over the phone as they always had done, but when the day came they never called to confirm, a tech never called to say they were on the way, no bill or receipt of service was left in my home, nor did I get a call after to confirm what they had done. No contact was made on that day whatsoever. I called another company and they came, confirmed the issue and fixed it. Two months later I receive a phone call from Edward Hughes saying I owed them $200. They could not say on the phone what time the service was performed, what was done or who the tech was who supposedly came into my home. I explained that I couldn’t really pay for a service I had no proof happened, especially since I paid another company to actually fix the issue. They apologized and said ok, they would look into it. They sent me a series of bills and I have now called six times trying to get this resolved. Today I go to my home and see they have posted a bill on my door for all my neighbors to see instead of calling me back. How embarrassing. I will never call this company or recommend them again.

Called in the morning, got an appointment for same day service in the afternoon to address a grinder/ejector pump issue. Prompt, friendly, affordable. I'd use them again for my plumbing needs.

My husband was recently diagnosed with a debilitating disease. He can't go upstairs and was having a hard time using our downstairs standard height toilet. We've had Edward Hughes do work for us before so we contacted Edward Hughes & Son to have a chair height toilet installed for him. I sent a request for an estimate late Friday afternoon. Jennifer, from their office, called me as soon as she got my email. A rep come out early the next morning, Saturday, to measure and estimate the job. He said they could do it that day and before noon our new chair height toilet was installed! My husband is very happy with it too :-} We always recommend Ed Hughes and Sons. They give great service, good prices and they're caring people.

I have been using Hughes plumbing for many years and I do feel the management teams takes care of my needs. I also feel they are charging fairly so confident to recommend them to anyone who ask.
