Review Summary

Surety Plumbing, now under Mr. Rooter, is accused of price gouging with a high minimum charge ($232). Customers report being misled, overcharged for simple tasks, and pressured into unnecessary services. Negative reviews highlight poor service, unreliability (missed appointments, long wait times), and a lack of customer care. Positive reviews mention helpfulness and prompt service, but are outweighed by negative experiences.

Beware of these guys. The reviews are legit. They are rip off artists. Surety used to be a mom and pop business but they were acquired by Mr. Rooter which is a national chain. They charge a minimum of $232 for ANY work performed. They justify their price gouging my claiming this is the “national standard.” So $232 to “unclog” my garbage disposal which consists of pushing a button and turning a lever. Since I was unaware of how simple a task this would be, they suckered me into purchasing a new garbage disposal for $565. Then they convinced me that my water heater, which was working perfectly, needed routine maintenance. So I allowed them to perform the work for $116. While they were in there the heater stopped working and they had the AUDACITY to tell me that it wasn’t their fault and offered to “fix it” for $300+. I refused, so now I’m out $700 with NO hot water. I complained to the manager, Gilbert, who didn’t seem concerned at all with the negative reviews. As long as they get your money they are satisfied. They don’t care about repeat business. Their business model is to fleece you and then find another sucker to prey on. When I asked the plumber why they didn’t simply fix my disposal by pushing the unclog button and charging me for 1/2 hour of labor he told me point blank, “we don’t do favors.” Well, do yourself a favor and avoid these crooks!

Highly recommend! Went in for a hose. While they did not have a hose we were able to come up with an extension. The man was very patient with me and very helpful. All were extremely friendly. And with all 4 parts cost was under $3. Got home and was able to install with no leaks.

Service was great! Jose M. Orozco was such a professional who helped me find the parts I needed. They have quite a large selection of tools, parts and other miscellaneous items for any job you have around the house.

If I could give a lesser star I would. I have use this business for many years, since the change of owners. Service has been horrible. I agree with the last three, prices have gone up from 69.00 to 109.00. They make you wait, they tell you, they will be there at a certain time and they don't show up, then you call and they give you another set time and again you're waiting. You ask why so long, they are booked, short-handed. ( this waiting time has happen all in one month 🙁)Then they try to assume what your problem is over the phone. They are so unorganized and they try to blame their workers when they don't get their stuff together, this is why they have a high turn over rate on employees. I'm sorry I have been patient long enough. It's very sad that I will be taking my business somewhere else, even if I have a major problem. I strongly feel you as a customer will be better off finding business with another plumbing company. Save yourself the time of waiting all day and the next day for service to be done. I apologize to the plumbers, for a low rating, Thank you for your services and hard work.

The service was prompt and outstanding. Caesar, the technician, explained to us everything he did and why. He also gave his tips for maintenance on residential plumbing. Mr. Rooter is an excellent plumbing company and I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Rooter for all plumbing needs.

Water heater was installed by Surety in my father's home about a year and a half ago. Today we sensor went out which means no hot water in December. Today is Friday the 29th and all parts distributors are closed until Tuesday the 2nd. That means no hot water for a minimum of four days. When I called to inform them that they installed the water heater less than two years ago, they took no ownership of the problem and advised that I wait for the part to come in on Tuesday so that they could install it and give my dad a "good deal." Four days without hot water...does that sound like a good deal to anyone? My dad is 79 years old.

My family has always used Surety Plumbing but after this very last call we will no longer be calling them! They charged $240 to unclog The kitchen sink that took exactly 12 minutes! Terrible!
