I want to thank John Donovan for his expertise on replacing our water heater with a heat pump water heater. He was enthusiastic about the upgrade, honest about options (including that I would save money by buying the unit at retail for them to install), and patient in answering detailed questions I had. There was some confusion on my end about whether I needed to coordinate the electrician or not (I did not), and I would have liked to have seen the crew do a little more cleanup work at the end. Otherwise, 5 stars. The install went great.

I booked Mr Rooter on 1/10/25 because I had a sewer drain backup in my basement. The service tech arrived 2 hours late, but was otherwise decent. He gave me three options to clean my pipe, basically good/better/best, which in hindsight I realize I had no knowledge or expertise on which to base that decision. I picked the 'better' option. The tech estimated he would be done in ~2 hours. At the two and a half hour point I went downstairs, and was told by the tech that there were excessive tree roots in my pipe, also that there must be a break in my sewer pipe, that his equipment was stuck at the 40 foot point, and he was waiting for another tech to drive up from Caledonia (45 mins away). That tech arrived, they got the machine unstuck, worked another 45 minutes, and called it a day at 4 hours total. I was advised that my pipe was only partially unclogged, that they basically only went 40 feet, that my family would need to limit showers / toilet / laundry as much as possible, and that it was a matter of when and not if a new backup would happen. I was charged $1400. I was charged an extra hour of labor for the time the tech spent waiting for help to arrive, but was not charged for the other service tech's time. I was told that if I booked the 'best' option right there, it would be another $1400, which was a discount of $300 over what it would have otherwise cost. The tech also stated that my pipe was in such poor condition that I would likely be looking at thousands of dollars to excavate and repair the pipe, including busting up my basement floor. I spoke to the office manager the next morning to express how dissatisfied I was with the service I received. I asked for a call back from a manager, both to discuss my experience and have someone experienced review the photos that were taken during my service, to get an idea of whether the 'best' service I had been quoted would actually do the job. I received no follow up call from anyone at Mr. Rooter. 3-1/2 weeks later my basement again had raw sewage backing up. I learned that Mr. Rooter's "warranty" said that if you have another backup within 90 days, that they'd come back out, and they'd 'only' charge you 50% of the original bill. It's not clear in my case whether they would have even honored the warranty, since they told me when they left that the pipe had not been cleared. I didn't give them the chance. With this second backup, I made some inquiries, got a referral for Ajacks company, they were phenomenal. They arrived early, were in and out within an hour, they cleaned 100 feet to the sewer main, and said the pipe was in fine condition except for a few spots that had heavy root growth, that they had to go back and forth a few times to clear. Ajacks charged me less than 20% of what Mr. Rooter did, and even THAT number probably could have been less - they sent two techs as a precaution based on my description of the problem, and really only one tech ended up being needed. I am currently disputing my cc charge - I would never do business with Mr. Rooter again.

We had service technician Derek Morrow. I will use this company again for any other needs because of our experience with him. He was respectful and explained everything in detail when we asked him questions. He gave us all of our opinions and pricing. I appreciate how thorough he was with his work. Overall no one wants to be in a plumbing predicament but my husband and I wanted to thank Derek for the excellent job he did and our issues were resolved during his visit.

Non-emergency service requested at 7pm and arrived 12:30 the next day. That's fast! John G was my service professional and was exactly that. He was quick, knowledgeable, well-spoken and happy to walk me through my problems. The service call communication was very thorough. Calls, texts and emails, but all to your preference. Pricing was in line with other services. Very happy.

John and his team developed a plan to replace my lengthy (200ft) sewer lateral without damaging my paver patio. Although encountering some problems, they worked tirelessly for several days to successfully complete the project. The entire crew was extremely courteous and made a stressful situation tolerable. I can't say enough about their "old world work ethic" and high level of service that you rarely see today. I made the correct decision in hiring Mr. Rooter Plumbing and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the company to anyone needing plumbing expertise.

Mr rooter showed up! John and Tony were excellent to help solve a confusing plumbing issue that I had no idea I’d run into if I chose to DIWhy it myself. I know I wouldn’t have been able to figure it out. Will definitely hire them back for any plumbing needs. Trev, and Joy

Great People all around! Our sewer issues in a recently purchased home were first takled by a great Engineer from MMSD. He started the bidding process of replacing a bad liner and the company who it was assigned to was Mr Rooter. At first call there was a national answering service which was subpar. But then the local Franksville branch office manager, Shannon was our reference point. She was and still is great. We then met the owner John and he was very friendly and respectful. Even though more costly we knew this gentleman was going to take care of it and stand by it. We had some complications but after a lengthy week it was well accomplished. The team was hard working. John even took one of our historical paintings and cleaned it for us. He also personally came and fixed our new floor drain! This week our yard was seeded and John and Shannon were there when we had a tiny incovenience. John has even given me access to contact him for help since we are newcomers to the this area. This experience has given us the opportunity to call upon "friends" when in need! Thank you Mr Rooter team!

Edit: Changing my review to a 1 star. They came out to clean a clog in a house we just moved into and they had to replace an access valve. That valve is now leaking and the tech said it wasn't caused by him, but it's the valve he worked on and replaced. There has been a sewage leak in my basement that we didn't notice and now they are telling me they can't get out to me for 6 days. The tech never sent the quotes out the second time he was here. Unacceptable to allow a client to live with a leaking sewage pipe they caused for another 6 days. I'll be going else where and have to spend more money on an issue they caused.
