I cannot speak for the 1 star reviews but my experience with Greg was fantastic. My plumber told me I needed to call Roto-rooter to fix an issue in our basement pipes. I googled Madison roto-rooter, saw Greg's Rite-Now was close and I called. He said he could come out right away and he did just that. He was friendly, informative and fixed the issue within a short time frame. We had a good conversation and he left! I would definitely use him again and recommend him. He is also locally owned and grew up on the east side of Madison and knows the homes well.

Don’t recommend. First time we’ve had to have someone come rooter in several years. Had to have Greg’s come back, within a week or so, for same rooter service. Charged full price again - said it was a different issue this time. Not reasonable if you’re paying twice. Don’t stand behind their work. Will use someone else in the future.

Very poor and unprofessional communication. When I called and told about my problem (trip lever not draining in the bathtub), I was not told anything about the flat fee for coming in or any work estimates. When the business owner came in, he said that he was not a plumber, but a rooter, and that he has nothing to do with why Google classifies him as a plumber. He pushed the trip lever down, removed the rusted drain parts, including the trip lever, and the drain opened as a result. This way the problem was fixed in a couple minutes, however I don't feel that anything skilled was done. I was told that the charge was $85, and that it was way less than what he typically charges ($130). He also does not take credit cards, which he also didn't say on the phone. I was lucky to have some cash on me, otherwise I'd have to pay with a check. Obviously, I had to take his word for granted since he had no pricing information on him. He recommended me to call some other rooter company and ask them if $85 for a rooter visit was acceptable. I am glad that I was very upfront with this person and told him that I felt the way the situation unfolded was unprofessional. It's a good lesson for me and hopefully for other inexperienced in terms of plumbing customers. Don't be afraid to stand up for your right to be informed as a customer.

After calling Roto Router several times in the past to help with an ongoing problem of our basement floor drain backing up, we decided to try something different. My husband called Greg just after 8:00 AM on a weekday morning and he was at our house within the hour. He quickly located the clog, fixed it, was able to snake a pipe that Roto Router had never had success with in the past, and taught my husband how to handle the situation if/when it happens again! We were so pleased with his service! He is a local, very friendly, helpful, flexible, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Great job, highly recommended! They were at my house within an hour of calling, and they had my problem fixed in minutes! What was really nice is Greg explained the issue and taught me what to do the next time it happens. He cares about his customers and I would highly recommend him to anyone with a blockage issue.

Called Greg to come out to a property we had just bought and he seemed to unclog the basement floor drain. It was a little pricey ($130 for which he only accepts cash or a check— which he inexplicably does not tell you when you set up the service) but he said it would be good for a year. Two months later, it started backing up again... turns out he didn’t go far enough back. When we called him to come back out, check to see what might be going on, and fix it, he said he couldn’t come back out. ... super disappointed as I had used him before at other properties and he had been great. Will not use again.

This guy is rude and unprofessional. He actually left my property multiple times (renter) because I asked him to take his shoes off or wear covers. No one wants dirty water tracked thru their house. He didn’t even have the decency to bring a towel to wipe up the mess he left. How hard is it to wear covers while you’re in the bathroom and take them off before coming out. How hard is it to just be respectful.

Greg is the best drain guy in town. He knows old plumbing systems very well and the idiosyncrasies of most neighborhoods. He has spotted problems ahead of time and saved us from future headaches and expenses. He's nice, courteous and professional. I highly recommend him.
